Alabel 3 District forges partnership with 88.5 i-CARE FM radio

Elementary Schools in Alabel 3 District are collaborating with 88.5 iCare FM Radio that is based at Alegria National High School for the broadcasting of their RBI lessons. Teachers like Rowena Biene of Upper Alabel Elementary School record their radio-based instruction lessons and upload the audio files to a shared Google Drive for iCare FM to air during their designated time slots. "Each school is assigned a subject area. Our school is assigned to develop RBI lessons in Science," Biene said. The partnership was initiated by District Supervisor Fredgie Pasco upon learning that the radio broadcast of iCare FM reaches most of the areas in Alabel 3 district. Andres Mataganas, school head of Alegria NHS, explained that the schools whose lessons are aired via iCare FM have committed to augment expenses on electricity in return. Mataganas also added that plans to increase the range of the broadcast coverage as well as the introduction of live streaming via Facebook are underway in

D. Gimarino ES launches own radio station

When school head Jerome Reynes found out that the learners at D. Gimarino Elementary School in Kayupo, Kiamba, Sarangani Province found it difficult to answer their self-learning modules, he began his quest for a solution. Among the learning delivery modalities that the Department of Education recommends, he decided that radio-based instruction is the most doable.  He sought the help of the local government through the Sangguniang Barangay of Kayupo, the Parent-Teacher Association, and private individuals and organizations to help him put up the radio station. Reynes also consulted with the National Telecommunications Commission prior to establishing the school. The 38th Infantry Battalion also extended help in constructing a radio booth. Key Radio 105.5 Megahertz FM was launched on Friday, January 15, 2021. According to Reynes, the reason he named the station, Key Radio is because the radio station will be the key unlocking the difficulties they are experiencing in making sure that le

Over 8000 radio units to be given to Sarangan learners

The Local Government of Sarangani has committed to support Radio-Based Instruction, one of the learning delivery modalities to be implemented in the Division of Sarangani, by giving 5000 radio units. This was discussed in a meeting with Atty. Ryan Ramos, Chief-of-Staff of Congressman Ruel Pacquiao on September 24.  Radio-Based Instruction will be implemented alongside the Dynamic Learning Program, which is seen to minimize expenses on self-learning modules.  "Instead of printing modules, teachers will only be printing learning activity sheets (LAS), which is much cheaper than printing complete self-learning modules," says Curriculum and Instruction Division Chief Donna S. Panes.   Orientations on the preparation of LAS have been conducted in the different districts.  The radio units will also be accompanied with flash drives containing recorded lessons.  "The learners will be able to replay the lesson for as many times as they want until they understand the lesson,"

Sarangani's first school-based radio station rises in Tamban NHS

The first school-run radio station was recently established at Tamban National High School following the Department of Education's call for alternative learning delivery modalities for school year 2020-2021 where face-to-face instruction is not allowed by the government. With the help from various stakeholders, Tamban NHS was able to raise Php 253,000.00 for the establishment of the radio station, which is expected to benefit at least 13 schools in East Malungon District.
