On October 6, 2022, the people of Barangay Lun Padidu in Malapatan, Sarangani Province were jolted awake by the sound of sirens from speeding fire trucks. The Bureau of Fire Protection had reported a raging fire at Lun Padidu Central Elementary School, and eleven classrooms were quickly consumed, along with all the furniture, TVs, chairs, tables, and reading materials. In the face of this disaster, the community sprang into action, grabbing pails to put out the fire with water, showing the true spirit of Bayanihan. But despite their efforts, the damage was extensive, and the school's future hung in the balance. The hiring process for teaching positions in DepEd Sarangani continues as applicants participate in interviews and teaching demonstrations conducted in the different municipalities. Pursuant to the Division Memorandum 44 series of 2022, which sets the guidelines for the recruitment, selection and placement of personnel for kindergarten, elementary, junior high school, and senior high school teaching positions for the school year 2022-2023, the School Screening Committees, Division Sub-Selection Committees, and Division Selection Committee have started the verification of documents, conduct of interviews, and rating of the applicants’ teaching demonstrations. Once sullied by the presence of a left-leaning organization, the establishment of the DepEd-run Datal Basak IP School and the road project, connected the once-isolated community to imminent progress.   Although it remains unenergized, the community relies on solar power to provide light at night. The Alternative Learning System Senior High School (ALS-SHS) was launched virtually yesterday via DepEd Tayo Facebook pages. Asst. Regional Director Atty. Fiel Y.
