Mosqueda bids farewell; Estacio takes rein as DepEd Sarangani’s SDS

Last Friday, a turnover ceremony was held at Venue 88, General Santos City, to mark the leadership transition in the Department of Education's Sarangani Division. Gildo G. Mosqueda, CEO VI, who had been serving as the Schools Division Superintendent, officially handed over his responsibilities and authority to Ruth L. Estacio, CESO VI, who was assigned as the new Superintendent.

Attended by various DepEd officials, educators, and stakeholders in the education sector, the occasion marked the start of a new era for DepEd Sarangani.

The turnover ceremony was an opportunity for Mosqueda to bid farewell to his colleagues, staff, and friends, and for them to express their appreciation for his leadership and contribution to the division's growth and success.

Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member Jess Bascuña awarded Mosqueda a plaque, recognizing his dedication to the education sector and for his tireless efforts to improve the quality of education in Sarangani.

Meanwhile, the event was also a warm welcome celebration for the new Schools Division Superintendent, Ruth L. Estacio.

She brings with her a wealth of experience, having previously served as the Assistant Schools Division Superintendent of the same division. She is expected to continue the strong tradition of academic excellence and innovation that has become the hallmark of DepEd Sarangani.

During the turnover ceremony, Mosqueda presented Estacio with a copy of the Division Education Development Plan, symbolizing the official transfer of leadership.

In his remarks, Mosqueda expressed his gratitude to the educators and staff of DepEd Sarangani, saying that it was an honor to have served as their leader for many years.

Estacio, in turn, thanked Mosqueda for his guidance and mentorship and vowed to continue the division's tradition of excellence. She emphasized the importance of collaboration and teamwork in achieving the division's goals and called on everyone to work together to provide the best possible education to the students of Sarangani.

The attendees expressed their excitement and enthusiasm for Estacio's appointment and shared their hopes and expectations for the division's future under her leadership. 

The event was an opportunity for Estacio to connect with the educators and stakeholders in the education sector and to establish a positive and collaborative relationship with them.

AlSci researchers bag championship in national tilt

Another research team from Alabel National Science High School bagged yet another award, this time from the University of the Philippines-ALCHEMES Research Fair. The team composed of Ernest Gabonada, Trisha Belle Pactes, and Francine Sanchez bested 29 other schools from all over the country in the applied science category. From all the finalists, the roster was cut down to five, and then, in the championship round, the research team from AlSci went head-to-head against the team from Philippines Science High School CALABARZON Region Campus, where they emerged as the champion, and the people's choice as well. In a simple virtual ceremony, Dr. Nerissa A. Alfafara was sworn in to office by Regional Director Allan G. Photo by Maiden Ouano ASDS Alfafara takes over the position vacated by outgoing ASDS Diosdado F. Ablanido, CPA, who is now assigned to the City Schools Division of Tacurong. Before her appointment as ASDS, Alfafara was serving the Division of General Santos City as the Education Program Supervisor in Science, a post she held for five years. Thus far, Alfafara has served DepEd for 15 years as school teacher, 8 years as elementary school principal, and five years as education program supervisor. Her installation into office was witnessed by SDS Gildo G. Mosqueda, SGOD Chief Ma. Shirly M. Cardinal, and Acting CID Chief Rey C. Tagala and virtually by other officials from the DepEd Regional Offices and Division Offices in the region.
